The Bennington Fire Department took time from their busy schedules to spend a day with Pierce School students talking about fire safety beginning with a fire drill and assembly.  Matt Hall, Deputy Chief, and his son Mason, Keith Nason, Deputy Chief, Jason Powers, Rescue Captain and Sarah Powers, EMT, showed the children different elements of the equipment they wear when they fight fires.

Featured image of article: 4th Grade Field Trip to the Great Bay

  On Wednesday Mrs. Germain’s 4th traveled to Greenland, New Hampshire to visit the Great Bay Discovery Center with friends from Francestown Elementary School.  Prior to the visit, the class learned that the Great Bay is an estuary – a land form where freshwater and seawater meet.  Estuaries are critical habitats for many animals as well as places for several bird species to stop along their migration routes.

Featured image of article: Assistant Superintendent Shares Malawi Experience

Assistant Superintendent Ann Forrest recently visited Ms. Sutton’s third grade classroom where she shared her summer experience in the southeast African nation of Malawi.

Forrest was part of a group of educators and aid volunteers with the group Good Soil Partners who worked in the village of Kangoma. She met with teachers and students and taught lessons at the pre-school and primary school levels.
