In what is becoming a Pierce School holiday tradition, the PTO treated the students to a day of learning and fun at the Barbara C. Harris Camp in Greenfield. The staff at the Camp made it possible for students to assist in the preparation of a pizza lunch and decoration of delicious gingerbreadmen. Lunch followed the morning activities including inside games, the cooking projects, and a read aloud, The Stranger in the Woods by Carl Sams, with an art project featuring adorable pinecone and hemlock antlered deer. After lunch some of the students hiked the nature trail looking for the signs and sounds of animals living in the nearby woods, while other students built snowmen inspired by the story. Upon return to the school, the PTO served students hot cocoa to accompany the gingerbreadmen and had a gift for each child. It was wonderful day and we all thank the PTO and the staff at the Barbara C Harris Camp for making possible.
