Celebrating another Ski Season
Written By: Ms. Sutton
Although many are excited for warm weather, skiers and snowboarders would love to see the snow fly for just a little bit longer. This year 31 Pierce School students participated in the after school ski program. It was the perfect season filled with lots of snow, great temperatures and of course cherished time with friends. For some, this was their first year learning to ski or board. Bella in third grade said, “Everyone is friendly at the mountain and I learned a lot.” Olivia just finished her third year of lessons and said, “It is really fun to ski because you can get to different ski levels. I can ski the light blue trails now“. Watching students shine outside of the classroom and have the courage to try something new could not be more rewarding. Friendships were made and participants learned to trust each other.
The after school ski program is a PTO sponsored event and would not be possible without the dedication, help and support of PTO President Theresa Healey, the teachers and parents who help each week. If you would like your child to be part of the after school ski program, please contact Theresa Healey or Ms. Sutton for more information. Online registration for next season will begin in September for the 2018-2019 program. Partial scholarships are often available. If it is going to be cold and snowy, we might as well enjoy it! Happy winter!
