Gloria Davis and Dauna Hugron from the Antrim Grange visited Ms. Sutton’s 3rd grade students today bearing the gift of a brand new dictionary for each child. The Grange was founded during the Civil War era and has largely persisted in supporting agricultural endeavors over the years. In fact the word “grange” is a reference to grain, a very important farm product. In more recent times, the Grange’s initiative to put dictionaries in the hands of students has encouraged and supported literacy for all. Ms Sutton’s students explored their very own dictionaries finding out that there is so much more within its covers than they might expect. Pierce School 3rd graders are both appreciative to the Grange and delighted with their dictionaries. The smiling faces tell it all.
